How do you adjust belt tension on A/C

Hi, I would like to know how to adjust the belt tension on the Air Conditionning? Mine has a seperate belt for the A/C. (Cummins 5.9 2003)

I checked a few general web site, 3/8 to 1/2 inch deflection with 10 pounds pressure, does this sound good?

The deflection and pressure sound about right.

My ISC has a separate belt for the AC also. I have a side radiator which makes access to the engine and AC pump easy.

I have changed my belt when I changed the serpentine belt ~6 years ago. The AC unit has a threaded rod, you can loosen or tighten the nuts as need to tension the belt.

The a/c compressor and its belt drive are added by the chassis builder, so the procedure is likely to be unique to your chassis model & year. The deflection & pressure sound typical, though.

I tough the AC would be installed by Cummins, it would make sense since it is on the engine, but I could not find any info on Cummins Quickserve.

A/C compressor location , is dictated by the chassis or coach manufacturers order. Compressor installed by Cummins would be mounted low and driven by the serpentine belt. Those with a " V " belt are most likely installed after the engine was delivered to the chassis manufacturer.

Some units the belt tension, is adjusted by pivoting the compressor, others there is an idler pulley on a slide, for the tension.
There have been posts about a compressor pivot installed wrong , not allowing enough adjustment; so if you have that type , and can't get the tension you need , re-post and I'll post pictures and diagrams of how the adjuster should be installed.

EDIT: Also differences in rear and side radiator applications. Do you have a rear radiator?

There is enough adjustment on the bolt, I was just wondering what was the spec.
