How many $ to replace oil pump

Have ISC 8.3 in a Pusher rear radiator. How much should I expect to pay to have replaced. How much shop time? Trying to get rough estimate.

Most engine oil pumps can be accessed by dropping the oil pan and the pump is held in place by 2 bolts. Usually a oil gear pump doesn't go bad unless it was exposed to dirt/grime which would probably also get through the whole engine. It's typical to only replace/rebuild a oil pump when you rebuild a engine.

Low oil pressure at low idle when warm or no pressure at start up. Of course it the shuts down in about 30 seconds. If I get low pressure at start up(10 or 11lbs) then it will get 30to 60 at fast idle or above. I Already replaced the oil pressure sensor. Cummins put a separate gauge on it and verified the low or no pressure .

Low oil pressure can be caused by many things besides a oil pump. Worn cam shaft bearings will cause low oil pressure, BTDT.

The pickup tube and gasket should be inspected as well. Quite unusual for an oil pump to go out on an ISC. Is there a history to your problem?

Have they looked at the oil pressure regulator? Iím not sure what type Cummins uses, but all engines Iíve worked on have them. A weak or broken spring can cause low oil pressure.

How many $ to replace oil pump

Just no pressure when I started it when still warm after driving for several hours. After a couple of restarts the pressure was back up to close to normal. So sometimes it shows no pressure and sometimes low pressure at idle. Runs about 15,seconds if low pressure before shutting down.

Definitely look into the oil pressure relief. Have you changed the oil filter?
