Has anybody purchased the Insite software and basic password? I know the software can be legally downloaded but a BASIC password is required - this must be obtained from a "local" Cummins dealer. Does anybody know the cost of this password? The PowerSpec software if good for trouble codes and trip reports but....
The Insite software has extensive engine documentation for all engines.

Last time I checked, the password cost $570 annually.

That is what I thought I saw but if I read correctly an "individual" could get a basic password that does not expire. This would not let you change any engine parameters (dont want to do that anyway) but could be helpful for trouble codes and diagnostics.

I don't know about the 'personal' license. You'd have to contact a Cummins distributor for the info.

Sorry.

I have the pro license that lets you reprogram the ECM. Just hope no one has put passwords on the ECM because that costs extra for removal codes. Even if you have the insite you have to have a Dongle to go between the ECM and computer and that's another $750. I have the Inline 5 USB.

What's nice about Insite it has all the fault codes and repair features.

I don't use it much. I have the Cummins Quickcheck which lets you reset alarms and service times.

What style of engine do you have? Such as an ISB 5.9L or 6.7L engine.
I use a code reader that will read the error code from the OBDII port. I then as a member of "Turbo Diesel Register" can find the solution. To me this is way less expensive then the $570 annual fee that was mention.

That's fine for pickups that don't have limp home modes, but can you reset the fault? With the Insite or Quickcheck you can read and reset and try to get on your way. Without someway to reset, your stuck.
