ISC 350 Air Filter

My owners manual says to change out the entire air filter cartridge as a complete unit. When I did a search for the part number, Donaldson EBA09-2037, I found the whole cartridge for $133, but I also found what looks like a replacement filter element for $45. Can you easily take the filter out of the can and replace it?

Depends on the filter. On our '02 Dutch Star ISC 350 it was a Farr Ecolite and the whole unit had to be replaced. On our present rig just the filter element is replaced.
Are you sure you have the original air cleaner set up?

Suggest you pull the filter and inspect and confirm number.

On my coach with a 350 ISC the filter is a sealed unit. It has to be replaced as a whole unit.

My manual showed that it is the same filter you reference however the first time I changed it there was a different filter in place.

The last 2 I've bought I changed to Fram.

FRAM - Part Details

I shop the internet for the best price and order, I don't keep a new spare as the shelf life can result in deterioration. I do keep the old one as a spare, I seal the ends. This is just in case I have a problem and have something on hand to be me through until I can get a replacement.

Good news is that I've gone 3 years between filter changes. I check the filter minder every time I check the engine oil. It has never shown that the filter needs to be changed.

After doing a lot of reading it seems like the good rule of thumb is if you live in a dryer environment you can go ~3 years and in a wet environment 2 years.

That's what mine looks like.

Also, I check the filter minder about once a year. Last year when I checked it I found that the bottom was cracked and leaking. As a result it would never show the filter needed changing.

I used some glue to seal it back up. I checked it to make sure it was sealed again.

If it does it again I will replace.

Here is a chart for the Ecolite filters. Before you order, check the dimensions of your existing filter. Once you confirm dimensions, the chart will give you cross reference to other brands even though, as I understand, they are all made by Farr.

My 2002 ISC 350 uses a complete package, filter and container. It is replaced as a single unit.

I prefer to use the Donaldson Air Filters which are P537448.

You can see it in the link given in the previous post on page 2.

I replaced mine with the Donaldson replacment.

I avoid Fram filters at all cost. Even if I knew it was built by Farr, I still would'nt buy the Fram !!

I don't disagree, but I do buy this one in the Fram number as it is consistently the lower price and since they are all made in the same place, Well, why not.

How times change, in the old days Fram was at the top of the heap. Remember "Pay Me Now or Pay Me Later"

When i was shopping for a motorhome i asked my freind that works for Cummins about ISC engine and if it was a good choice. His answer was yes but to verify that correct air filter had been used as if not there was a good chance the engine had got dusted. Dont be cheap when it comes to the air filter.
