ISC 8.3 Exhaust

I've read on here about the potenial of having an exhaust leak/crack/break. The new ones are 2 pieces and stronger then the older ones.
I was briefly looking at mine today, and it appears the manifold is two pieces. Looked like their was a junction in the exhasut manifold. This is on an 04 motorhome. Could this be the newer system? I just bought this motorhome, so is it possible this exhaust has been replaced? Thanks
Brian

I have a '01 ISC and I have a 2 piece manifold right from the start so I have no idea. Even the 2 piece manifolds can crack, I have had one piece crack. When that happens, it is best to replace both due to the difference in expansion between old and new.

Mine is (and was) two piece. It was cracked when I bought the coach. If yours is cracked you will hear a distinct Popping Sound fron the Engine Compartment particularly when you first start up because the crack is wider when cold. You will also get Diesel Exhaust Fumes in the Engine Compartment.
If you do need to replace, do both sections and take a close look at the rest of the Exhaust System for rusted out pipe, muffler etc. Also, remove the Exhaust Brake to check and lubricate it.
There is only one way to go and that's All the Way.
Cost to repair with parts/labor is about $1500-1600.
