I'd like to replace my two, 6V engine batteries with sealed lead acids - recommendations?

We replaced all ours last January with all AGM from Interstate... love um!! We boon dock a lot and with 4 solar panels, we can keep them full and no odor or toxic spillage! We got the 4 - 6 volt at 220 for the coach and a 1400 for the chassis

You have a pair of 6V's to start the engine? That's odd. Normally there would be a pair of 12v for that, with something like 900-1000 CCA rating on each. You need a lot of cranking power on a big diesel and 6V batteries aren't up to it.
You may want to recheck what you have.

Hi Tech Writer,
Whatever you have, get the largest capacity batteries that will fit in the space you have.

Yep, you're right -- they're two, 12V CarQuest 31HDS30s.
I looked at the wrong wiring chart. Duh.

Optima is a truly maintenance free battery. I use two of their 1000CCA batteries for the chassis. Most folks are familiar with 3 of their line-up....the yellow top, the red top and the (light) blue top. They also make a lesser known (darker) blue top starting battery commonly used for marine diesels. It has a dark gray case and royal blue top........that's what we use for the chassis.

O'Reilly Auto parts has decent price on a Group 31 with around 1000 CCA. And most Freightliner dealers sell Alliance batteries (FL in-house brand name) in that size and at reasonable prices.
