ISL 370 hesitates on long uphill grade

We left Florida March 2, after complete service of engine and drive train, including all filters. After about 3,000 miles I'm feeling a periodic hesitation in the MH going up long grades. We are in Santa Fe NM at 7,100 feet. I don't sense the problem on level ground. A few years ago I had a problem with black slime so I fill the fuel tank and use biocide always when the MH is stored for more than a week. I'm guessing it's a fuel problem of some kind. Does anyone have any suggestions?

All motor homes will have one fuel filter most will have two, and some will have 3 ; and that third one if not found will give you headaches.

A bad tank fuel can restrict flow in your filters and cause loss of power in as little as 50 miles. Sometimes if the fuel is really bad it can take more than 1 filter to get rid of all the contaminates If can get to your water separator put a catch container under it and drain some fuel out. Use a light colored container so you can see what comes out. Fuel will usually be a yellow color. Water will be clear. They will separate in the bottom of the container.

I would change your fuel filters and make sure they are tight and not drawing air.

Most ISL and ISC have two fuel filters. A larger primary fuel filter and a smaller secondary filter by starter motor. I would replace both fuel filters and fill both filter with fuel before installing.

Often it takes several fuel filter changes to catch all the black goo left in the tank.
Algae is not algae.
ALWAYS store a diesel engine(long-term) with a full fuel tank and a product like Stabil to reduce fuel breakdown.

Would you say it's "surging", or just cutting out? I've had the surging issue with my ISM and it turned into 2 separate issues, and altitude had something to do with 1 of them.

The only thing that would cause a low power problem in a diesel engine is lack of fuel. determining the cause can be a problem in itself. The first thing to do is change fuel filters. That is the least expensive and easiest to do. If that doesn't make a difference then look at the fuel pressure from the lift pump.

I would say fuel filters yes. I would also say don't fill filters with fuel before installing. You can get contaminants in the filter on the clean side of the filter thus passing these things into the injection pump. Install new filters and use lift pump to prime system ensuring all fuel is filtered.

I took the coach to a truck/equipment service company in Santa Fe NM. They put it on the computer and found no error codes. They replaced the fuel filters, which has resolved the problem. I believe I did too much camping and not enough travel in our 3,000 miles since the filters were replaced. I now add a biocide to prevent black slime growth with every fuel stop.
