As illogical as this might seem, I would look at the fuel filter(s) first. They may be dirty and restricting fuel flow until the fuel pump gets cranked up.
Check for leaks when parked and see if you have a fuel leak from a bad seal or line. Best time to do that is when you first put the key in, turn the ignition to on (but don't crank it). Then go check under the coach (passenger side) around where the engine meets the transmission. During this time (about 30 seconds) the lift pump is priming the fuel system and you can see if there is any fuel leaking at that time.
If there are no leaks, try crawling under the coach in the same area and look for wet spots.
If there are no fuel leaks, check your air filter and air tubing for cracks and breaks and blockages. Something may be causing the turbine to not spin up as fast. Is your fuel economy suffering?
Since this is a 2005, is the warranty still in place? If so, and you're near a Cummins place, you might want to have them take a look. This way if it's lift pump or fuel pump or turbine related, you can get that taken care of on their dime.
Just a few things to look for, but not all inclusive. Good luck with finding the solution and let us know how it ends up.
