ISL code

I woke up my ISL for my trip to Florida. I had to drive about a 100 miles to DMV to get my class B. I started throwing a check engine code. I changed both filters when I got home. Did same trip today and code started and 45 minutes in and are consistent. They happen on acceleration and clear at idle. The code on the display is
MID 128
Engine PID 157
FMI 1
Anybody have a chart to read?

Actually it is a spartan. I backtracked it on a site I found online. MID 128 -means it's an engine code. And 157 seems to be a fuel rail issue. I can't find a 157 with an FMI , but all the 157's are fuel rail. I checked the coolant and oil. No issue there. If i pull the coolant sensor plug the CE alarm won't reset. Not sure what that means. The power reduction seems to be the ECM to protect the engine. The ECM has various levels to protect depending on the fault. When the light clears she run normal. Not sure what to try except taking to the garage.

You can get a free login on Cummins QuickServe Online and get this info.
SPN #157 and FMI #1 is for fault codes 2249 or 3752. In both cases the code description is:
"Injector Metering Rail 1 Pressure - Data Valid But Below Normal Operating Range - Most Severe Level"
Looks like fuel pressure on rail is low. Could be sensor, fuel pump, fuel filters ....

Did the filters and additives that could help before taking in to garage?

Took unit to local Cummins dealer today. I had drive it 62 mile to get it to throw a code. He put it on the laptop and the code was thje 2249/3752 as you had stated. Pressure on rail way below what computer was calling for. He hope it is the inline particulate filer plug up as it runs, the unplugging when it sits. If it is not could be injector line leak or tank. Hoping for particulate filter.

Unfortunately it was the high pressure pump head. They worked overtime to get me going. I think they were successful but the time to Florida should test it. Can't say enough good things about our local cummins dealer ( engines inc). They are courteous and professional. This code is very difficult to diagnose.

I headed for Florida and threw the code 200 miles in. The difference was it was a 4 (information). The dealer says this the the high pressure fuel sensor. Has any one changed one of these? I am 100 miles from a cummins dealer and would rather pick it up and install than tear down and take to the dealer.

Fuel rail pressure sensor should be in the fuel rail. Unplug it. Remove it. 15/16”? (Can’t remember for sure) Wrench. Replace with new sensor. Plug it in and fire it up to check for leaks.

Put sensor in today. Started and all codes cleared. Need to drive and that will happen 3/1. Ps the sensor is 1 1/16 @ 35 ft lbs. let you know if it is totally repaired in march

Drove a little over 200 miles with the new sensor. No codes and full power. I wonder if the original code which lead to the high pressure pump replacement was caused by the sensor. All is good now.
