ISL Fault Code, Symptoms -- Cure?

Hi All,

I'm pushing a 2002 Dynasty with a Cummins ISL-400/CAPS. Driving the highway home from Fall servicing, I experienced an engine power loss at speed for approximately 10 seconds, then it recovered and the next 50 miles were incident free.

My ScanGauge logged a fault code:

According to Cummins online, the 233 code does not apply to my engine (?!). ScanGauge says the Failure Mode 12 indicates "bad intelligent device or component".

A little more background: in addition to the annual service (fluids, filters, lube, etc) I had the engine bay washed at Blue Beacon just a few miles before the power loss occurred (not sure if there might be a causal relationship).

Bottom line is we're heading south in a few weeks and I don't want to risk a breakdown. My lean is to return for diagnosis/service, but I was wondering if anyone had experienced anything similar and what the resolution was?

Thanks in advance!

seeing as you just had the bay pressure washed - locate the ECU - with the battery power completely disconnected from chassis and house - pull the connectors off- spray them with WD-40 then follow with compressed air. Do the same at the ECU. Check all the rubber seals to make sure they are not cracked or warped then reconnect. That would be my first step. If it happens again after, look for frayed wiring in the harness.

It's an ATC Code!

Sent my post to the service center I use (Scott's RV and Truck in Rockford, IL). They said the 233 is a Bendix code (not Cummins) and the power loss event was trigger by the ATC (auto traction control). I checked the ATC manual and sure enough, it described the power loss event exactly as I experienced it.

I believe the wash triggered the event (roads were clear and dry), so the mechanics and I agreed a good long drive is called for to make sure everything is nice and dried out and no more spurious ATC events.

I guess it pays to know your coach and it's systems.

Slowly but surely...

Not WD-40, Use a electrical contact cleaner, purchase from any auto store, online, or even harbor Freight
