The first item to talk about is the engine under warranty? Over the last 18 years there have been many changes to the L series engine which effects the up grades one can do. Some states do require engine inspections which will be part of the choices you have. Cummins has approved HP and Torque up grades to ECM to change the increase of power but the pricing is real high if still under warranty and maybe only a 1/3 if not under warranty.

Would contact your nearest Cummins center and ask them for information on their ECM re-flash. You will need your Cummins engine serial number for them to give you the up grade options. Remember that after warranty the price is a lot less so if close to warranty end you might wait till them.
