What is the black box this belt connects to at the top right of picture? This belt seems loose to me and has adjustment bolts to tighten it. I also heard a squeaking noise when engine was idling but don't know if it was coming from this area or not. Any thoughts? Cummins ISL 425hp

X2. Looks just like an a/c compressor, but don't know why it would have a black box around it. Maybe to keep some heat off of it.

I think you both are correct. The black is just the bracket it is fastened to. I looked for other compressor pictures on the internet and found a similar one. Thanks for help.

It is the AC compressor.

The belt looks a bit worn. You may want to get a spare, while it's there and not laying on the road.
