Will the engine turn over and not fire or does it appear the electrical is dead?

I understood you to say that the engine starts but won't keep running, correct? IF that is the case, try changing the fuel filter. Fill it with diesel first if you can.

DO NOT FEED IT TOO MUCH ETHER! Firing on ether tells you it is a fuel problem. Possibilities: Fuel shut off solenoid, fuel filter(s) or fuel pump for starters. If the problem came on suddenly, I would suspect fuel shut off solenoid or electrical power to it. If you have a way to manually activate the shut off solenoid, you can confirm or eliminate that component very easily. "Cracking" a line at an injector will tell you if you have fuel pressure and flow to the injectors.

Not sure I ever read what the problem was with your ISM, did you get it back from the service center?

Thanks for asking. The ECM was the culprit and not it starts and runs fine.
