New Exhaust Manifold leaking

I have a 2005 ISC 330 cummins and had the exhaust manifold replaced 14 months ago with 2000 miles on it. It was leaking where it bolts to the head, now the new manifold is leaking where the two pieces meet.

When I talked to Cummins about the problem, they said when the manifold gets hot the two pieces will expand and that's how it seals. They also said it was a common problem for them to NOT seal or still leak, but that there is no fix other then buy a new one.

Has anybody else dealt with this problem? How did you fix it? Has anyone taken the manifold off and separated the two pieces? Does anyone know if there is an after market one piece manifold?

Any suggestions or information would be helpful.

Bill

All replacements are 2-piece. Never replace just one piece, for the reason you were told about sealing. Since one section has already been heated and sealed, it will not seal to a new section.
A work around is to use exhaust/muffler sealing tape to wrap the joint, being sure to wrap the tape tightly. Remove all loose rust first helps it to seal. Do not drive until it has heated up and sealed, fast idle only. I have no clue to longevity of the tape.
Used ISC manifolds are widely available on the internet for ~$250-$300.

When the shop replaced the manifold they replaced both pieces, but it still leaked. Maybe I will try the exhaust tape before I replace the manifold again.
Thanks for the info.
