Oil Change 400ISL

Cummins shows 1yr/15000 mile interval. My 08 has 3600 miles in 8 months (5 months parked) . Oil is black. Is it normal to be black as black or is it past time to change it.

The oil will turn black almost immediately after changing, this is normal. I would wait until the 12 month interval to change.

Oil turns black pretty quick in one of these diesels.

I would run it till the year is up.

(edit).... Jim beat me to it!

I whole heartedly agree with at least a year. For me the only reason I ever change anything calendar time based is due to warranty issues. After that it is hours/miles and I never look back and have never had any engine issues in a multitude of diesel equipment.
