Oil Change Locations / Cost ?

I live in an HOA so unable to do my own oil changes (for now). Where do you usually get your oil changed and about how much are you charged?

My new to me country coach with the 350 ISC engine was for sale for over a year and I know the previous owner didn't do any maintenance so I'm trying to get caught up.

Go to your nearest Speedco.

Try and get a list of all your filters, so that next time you can buy them your self from a truck shop and save a few $$$

Unfortunately there's no Speedco in Southern Nevada.

I did find this today which was very helpful for me.

Well yes and no. That list is for a Foretravel. Everything may not be the same on your coach. I would find your engine serial number and coach vin and take it with you when you shop for parts. Go to Cummins Quick Serve and create an account and you can find information on your engine. https://quickserve.cummins.com/info/index.html

I don't know of any good shops in Vegas, but I can tell you that there is a diesel shop in St. George called Kristi Diesel the owners name is John. He has a small shop there and does work on rv's. He is excellent and will take his time with you to explain things. Has no problem with you bringing your own parts, oil included.

One of the Ops questions was the cost of an oil change at a shop. As a new Cummins owner, I would be very interested myself. I would also be interested in the cost to DIY. Thanks!

Rocky Mountain Cummins in Boise charges 425.00 for lube, oil, filter, fuel filters. I do my own and oil, and filters run about 150.00.

X-2! SPEEDCO #311
Las Vegas, NV
I-15, Exit 46
(702) 843-6185

Also on the south side of town, you can go to the TA truckstop, go to the shop and ask for George, he is their top mech. and a personal friend! He has done many jobs for me and does top notch work! He can also do the service on your generator! Tell him Stan from Landstar sent you!
Also, the NAPA truck parts store will have all the filters you will need! Get the #'s off your old ones, and they can cross reference them! I-15 & Trop. go W. past the Wild West Casino, turn R. at the light down a block or so on the L.
Also, if you need a Alternator rebuilt, Vegas Auto Elect. Clarence 702-871-7122
For tires and alignment, Ask for Jeff, at Southern Tire Mart, 702-208-6274, or 702-651- 6604
And for a wash and detail, S&S Detail, ask for Mike! Behind the old Flying J,, same exit as the Blue Beacon, turn R. instead of L. at the light, go (N.) to the next light, R. on the R.

I worked (Trucked) out of Vegas for many years, and had many friends that did also, so know the in's and out's, the best and worst shops!

Rail!

I usually visit an RV dealer who gives a decent rate, Those can be hard to find. Before that, when I still had a Sticks and Bricks. I'd go to the local authorized service center... now here is the shocker.

We all know that "The Dealer" is expensive right.... Well here are the numbers

A Truck service center offers oil changes on sale for 99 dollars
I think I paid 90 at Camping world, and they screwed it up (I specified synthetic, they used regular)
The Authorized service center was, as I recall 65 dollars.

Local FORD dealer to where I"m broke down,, Was talking to them about the posibility of having them put the new replacement engine in this beast end of the month.. I ask them, out of coursity, what they charged for an oil change on a Gasser.. 65 dollars. Still today (a decade later).

Yup, turns out they are CHEAPER than the "Alternative" places.

NOTE. on my RV you do not need a hoist, you do not need a grease pit, all you need is a crawler.. There is no point I can not reach under the RV wheels down and jacks up except for the following points I can crawl under any part.
The axles
The Jacks
And I can reach over/under and around those..

IN fact, i've been under every inch of this RV (Legs or arms only under axles) wheels down, jacks up.

The Dealer I mentioned, did not use a hoist.

I talked to the guys at the Jiffy Lube type place I use for our cars and truck... do you do RV's I ask? Of course they do! Do you do really big RV's I ask? Umm, how big they ask. (see attached photo)

In the end, they weren't really setup for it per say, I was really too big to easily accommodate but I've been a customer for years and the 3 techs wanted the experience of working on a big rig so we made it work.

I brought the oil filter and the 2 fuel filters with me, they supplied the oil and funnel for loading the oil through the closet. I knew the steps for the fuel filter changes and walked them through what I wanted done in what order. Was $120 for all the labor and disposal.

I brought it by on a pre-determined time/day when they usually aren't busy.

Ya never know anything till ya ask I say.
