Replaced the stock can on my Monaco with the Aero muffler and stainless tip. Did not notice any difference in decibels from the cockpit, only when in a tunnel or walled roadway (a little throatier). Did not notice an increase in mileage in the first 500 miles or so - still 7.5. Seems to be a bit more power. I think the Aero and tip look a lot better.

Best part is essentially nothing TO BUY... Cost for 36" galvanized piece of 4" diameter exhaust pipe AND two used four inch muffler clamps from local muffler shop was only $35.00 cash. It was simple to remove the original muffler and the most time-consuming part of it all was running to Lowes to buy some brackets to hang the straight pipe.

Since you mention the closet was not as warm i would think the same would hold true about your incoming air charge with the air cleaner right above the muffler.
I'm also wonder after you mentioned all the prior negatives before the muffler was changed if the PO maybe had it changed and the wrong one was installed.

I just did this change today on my 8.3 today. I have a small issue in making my brackets as one of my L shaped brackets apparently had broken at one time so whenever they welded the break they also managed to weld the held of the bolt so it is not removable. It will just take a little more farmer engineering to get it secured properly. I have a 2000 mile trip coming up unfortunately mostly along the gulf coast so I might have to reroute to N. Al. and find me some hills to climb.
Thanks for the info. guys, I love to tinker and improve the old girl

Had not thought about the intake air being cooler. Great observation! One more benefit to smile about

I changed out my muffler with one from Banks. It is a 4" straight through design. I had not installed the Banks Tuner or the IQ so I don't know what the original EGTs were. I use the Banks IQ to show boost and EGT.

Please let us know what you think of your recent straight pipe install. Hope you are pleased, impressed, and experiencing the same benefits I experienced

My muffler on my Monaco needs o be replaced. I just might take this route instead. Mine can't get any louder that it already is with holes in it!

Just completed the straight pipe on my old 92 CC, I have not been on a long trip yet but did test drive, with windows open she was pretty loud, windows closed could hardly hear it, power seemed better, not dramatically better but will know more after our trip

Due to the fuel filter issues I enumerated in my other thread I don't feel I can realistically comment on the straight pipe conversion although maybe if I had not done it the engine perfomance would have been worse. I hope to take the Eagle out again in a couple of weeks and give it a true test.
