Thanks to all that responded to my turbo issue. I did check the clamps and found a couple that were a little loose. Didn't do a test drive as of yet but I'm optimistic about the fix. The info was very noteworthy.

Thanks Perry for the insight. I did the obvious tightening of the clamps. If that doesn't take care of it to the shop she'll go. Did find a couple clamps slightly loose. Hopefully that will take care of it.

36 boast is about right. Now I'm getting 20-24. Possibly a leak since I still have some boost.

I assume you mean pressure, not vacuum! Normal for a Cummins should be around 25, although newer variable vane ones run higher.

The highest boost I've seen on my 500 ISM is 31lbs. Could I have an issue since 36 is normal?

Darrel1953,
31 is about what I see as max boost with my late '02 production, pre EGR ISM. Gauges are the weak point in trying to compare boost numbers. My 31 comes off the ecm data buss.

I see about 33 psi ,ax on a pre 07 ISM emmision engine according to trip tek. Had a loss of power due to CAC hoses leaking but not drop in turbo max pressure. Coud tell a big difference after it was fixed.

Barlow 46. The work I had done on the TS was not related to the engines compartment. Just had side cameras replaced. Can't blame dealer on this one.

Good news Tighten the clamps took care of the problem. In fact it is doing better than before. Getting around 35 # of boost and occasionally up to 40#.

Good to hear that you've fixed it.
CAC are notorious for developing small leaks and are one of the easiest things to diagnose. Every couple of months simply take a can of starting fluid and lightly spray around the entire edge of the CAC, all hose fittings and intake mounts. Do this with the engine running at idle. When idling, the engine is producing vacuum and will suck in a bit of the fluid thereby raising the idle speed enough to hear the change. If you have any leaks you will find them quickly.
