There is nothing better than when the engine you have worked on finally starts for the first time. You know you did everything right but it is a relief when it burst into song. Because of the pains you took it is probably a better engine now than when it left the factory.

Once again... thanks to all of you for the support and congratulations. I was thinking of making a final post in this thread with a video of the RV heading up the road, but I think I'll save it for a later date. In order to do that legally, I would have to insure and register the RV... and paying for a whole year's worth of insurance and registration when it's not likely I'll have the rest of this project done in that amount of time to be able to use the RV - seems kinda silly.
So with that... I guess it's time to put this thread to bed. I'm going to take a little time off from working on the RV now to let the checkbook recover, and to spend some more time with the family now that the weather is getting better. There are also plenty of things around the house that need the regular springtime maintenance...
Also, knowing that I can walk away from a dream like this for a little while helps me check myself to make sure my priorities are in order. There was a time when these types of pursuits owned me... but through a certain amount of trials and tribulations... and by the grace of God... they no longer do. Time away will help me remember that. I don't know how long I'll stay away.. as long as it seems right I guess.
So I guess if there's anything I would want someone to take away from this thread... it wouldn't be much about the rebuild or the RV or camping... It would be that regardless of what you're going through... good times... bad times... dark times... disappointment... or joy... one thing will always remain the same - God is good. I have seen the merciful hand of the giver... and He is most certainly... GOOD.
-cheers

Hi Piker,
I have also been following the saga, eagerly awaiting each installment, and suffering through each setback and tribulation. I was absolutely thrilled with the final episode and like everyone was impressed with the dedication and perseverance displayed throughout this project. Congratulations on a job well done!

Sorry that I'm late to the finale here, but I've been out camping with the Mutants in the wilds of Arkansas. Piker, congrats on getting her running. The shot of your beaming face at the end of the video was priceless. I'm sure that all of the difficulties you faced over the course of the rebuild have faded away with the ecstasy of success.

Now you can concentrate on finishing your other part of this project. I think it will go better than you think.
Just a quick note on your new engine. I know you are aware of this but it might help some of your flock. When you start a cold engine as soon as the oil pressure comes up bump the idle (using the cruse control) to 1000 rpm. Low idle will not allow the complete combustion of the fuel and can lead to cylinder wall wash down and excess fuel in the oil.

Ok... one more video. I simply couldn't help myself...
Based on a couple test runs up the big hill in front of our house, the boost seems to now run upwards of 35 psi at max. I think this turbo works a little better than my old one? Could just be a difference in the waste gate pod too. I'll have to dial my boost fooler back at some point to get that down around 30 psi. 35 probably won't hurt, but I guess I'd rather be safe than sorry. The HX35 turbo's aren't real efficient up around 35 psi, and generate too much heat. 30 psi max seems like a good middle ground. Nice thing though, EGT didn't seem to want to get away from me pulling this hill no matter how hard I pushed it. And I pushed it pretty hard. I doubt I ran it enough to get the rings seated all the way, but I suspect they're off to a good start.
Engine runs great... sounds great... sure hope I can make the siding project a success... If I had a do-over, I'd have never touched the siding, but hindsight is always 20/20 isn't it?
-cheers
