Soon will be taking delivery of a new coach on a Freightliner XC Chassis powered with a Cummins ISL-400. My question is to those who own a coach requiring DEF. Where are you buying your DEF?

Mike

You can purchase it at truck stops or truck parts supply stores.

If you can find a pilot with def at the pump it's alot easier but my coach def tank is on the right side so you have to take up two truck lanes. I think def at the pump is a little cheaper.

Yeah, it is a LOT cheaper at the pump. If you buy it in jugs, the cheapest place I have found so far is TruckPro at just a little under $5 per gallon in 2.5 gallon jugs. So far I have gone about 4700 miles and added 6 gallons, and it is full right now so the usage is a little less than Cummins predicts, which could be because we do not work the engine as hard and there is not the amount of unburned diesel going through the exhaust as we accelerate under power. all just my opinion and experience.

I've been buying it at the local 'farm store', $11.99 for one of the 2.5 gallon jugs (about $4.80 per gallon). It is starting to show up on truck stop islands now though, I've heard, but not seen, for as little as $2.00 per gallon.

Check with a local fuel supplier , my work gets it in 250 gallon totes. I know you wouldn't need that much but they may sell smaller sizes

I just checked the Pilot/FJ web site. $2.69 to $2.89 at the pump.
