2009 C13 with DPF

I heard horror stories about Cats with the DPF. Anyone have first hand knowledge of this motor with the DPF?

Thanks

Carl

There was a class action suit against Cat regarding the C13 and C15 years from 2007 to 2009 because of the DPF regeneration systems. Are you looking at a coach with the engine in question? If you have questions about a coach with that engine you can get the engine serial number and check with a Cat dealer to see if it has been updated to correct the problem. I drive a 06 KW with the C15 problem free for 300,000 just a water pump and I run it hard hauling oversize loads. There is also a lot of reading online about the motor in question

We have a DPF COME. Different beast, same issues. The Ard head carbons up and fails often.
I finally had our DPF deleted. It is still in place and looks functional, but is bypassed. Pretty straightforward...for the guy with the computer and knowledge to do it (not me ).
It runs fine now.

So far still have original ARD head but curious what it cost you to have it replaced? Thinking of going your route of deleting it once we get the H out of California.

About $2800 to have ARD replaced.

Understood. But I could only handle so many weeks in Cats parking lot.. and pumping money into their account.

Ken, are you using the nozzle cleaner? Curious as to what your secret is for the ARD longevity

Yes, but I haven't been using it that long. Hopefully I haven't jinxed myself now.
