Hi everyone

I am new to the forum and looking for some advice from any tech out there. Be aware i am not an expert on this so bare with me. I have a 98 fl70

dropped a valve in my old cat engine( found out the difference between new and guaranteed used the hard way)

got a new 0 hour rebuilt from national diesel engines in florida. the old engine was a 3126 b the new one is a 3126 e. i am not sure of the letters but i know they are different. new engine came complete with a new ecm.

installation went great and started it up. once it started it runs super smooth.

HERE ARE THE ISSUES:
-throttle response is super low. you can floor it and it takes about 10 seconds to rev up.
-computer said timing was off. went to time it and it wont let you change timing
-company said huey pump was new but computer is saying its bad
-engine harness is in bad shape after close inspection company said get a new one and we will replace it
-new engine is supposed to be between 275 and 300 horse but computer is saying it is 211

before I pursue anything with company need to know will cat be able to get this running right? can the HP output be changed? would the harness be causing these issues including the lack of ability to set timing? is the ecm bad? would that say the huey pump is bad even though its good?

can we take the ecm from the old engine and use it on the new one or not becase of the different letters at the end of 3126? everything external mounted up the same.....

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Start with a new harness. Until everything is communicating properly you will not know anything for sure. The ECM may not be in sync with the HEUI. Could be a programming issue. Give 1-800-FTL-HELP a call (if it is a FL chassis) and see what they have to say.

I'm confused because I though B engines were mechanical and E were electronic. I guess you learn something new everyday.

Do you still have all your old parts (entire engine)?
I'm wondering if you can't convert this E series to mechanical injection if that what your old one was.
A 98 may have been elctronic from the factory as well.

I'm pretty sure the 98's were electronic. Do you know what year motor you have now? The Harness issues were addressed for the 99-2000 model year.

I would start with the harness & than re-flash the ECM. I'm not sure if you can swap ECM's from the old motot to new one. I don't see why you can't. If you can do it just to see if it works than try it.

Why did you not rebuild the motor after dropping the valve?
