I use Mobil Delvac 1300 super 15/40 in all my diesels as it gives the best oil pressure
cold or hot and has very good lab reports on oil samples.

Not sure you can use the words "fuel" and "economy" together when speaking about RV's! MPG, Miles/tank full, yes . . . . economy? Not so sure!

I like to use yardage instead of mileage, 17,600 yards to the gal. sounds so much better than 10 miles to the gal.

I found this oil pressure info in a 3126E, Cat manual, unfortunately I couldn't separate the page electronically to post it, and the whole manual is 14,800kb.
Oil pressure test chart shows , absolute bare minimum oil pressure of 6 ( six ) PSI at 650 rpm idle, minimum oil pressure above 1,400 RPM ; 29 PSI.
Maximum at any RPM. 87 PSI.
10/30 or 15/40 engine oil , engine at operating temp.
Oil pressure between the min and max is listed as acceptable.
Engine oil temp should not exceed 239 f.

Talked to an old hand today and he suggested I pull the pan on my 3126 and see if it had an o-ring on the oil pickup tube ,he said it could be hard and not sealing .Think I will go to cat dealer and have him look it up to see if it does in fact have an o-ring on the pick up tube where it goes into the oil pump! if so I will replace it and see if the pressure comes up.

Oil Pressure
Thanks to all that replied, received the Scan Gauge it works great at cold idle 36 pounds pressure on oil, will need to drive and get it up to temp to see real oil pressure but it's worth the bucks just to see all the readings, will reply after my wife and I head to Yuma from Lake Havasu City next week.

Bringing up an old thread...
I’m pretty surprised how low a cat 3126 oil pressure can be, and still be normal...
Like others I’m getting 18-20 at hot idle, 40 plus/minus at cruise at 1700 rpm or so...
From all the posts that seem normal...
I even see the attachment posted above from someone’s NEW 3126 when manufactured putting out 22 psi at idle, 44 at 2200 rpm!
Geesh...
I can only imagine the oil gets thinner in really hot climates...
I read that the HUEI system won’t run without oil pressure... at what oil pressure does it shut down? 5 psi?
Anyone shim the relief valve or anything to boost pressure. I see normal is up to 85psi... but I have found any indication of anyone running anywhere near that number...

Unless the oil is quite OLD, diluted with diesel or incorrect viscosity, oil pressure is not an issue with this engine.
90+% of us use 15-40 oil and change it annually. In over a 1/4 million miles with the Cat engines, oil pressure is a non-issue.
Can ****** happen? Sure, it is a machine. But before getting too concerned, change oil and VERIFY oil pressure.

I’m pretty sure I’ll just leave it alone. It’s in normal spec based on all the posts I see on here...
Where is the port to check oil pressure on a 3126? I can plug in a gauge where the pressure sensor is, but then the pressure sensor wouldn’t output to the ECM...
