350 Cat block heater

is the block heater self regulating.can I leave it on too long and over heat the engine thanks zack

No Zack, you will not hurt a thing by leaving it plugged in. They are a 1000 -1500 watt heating element, depending on the model. One will make the electric bill go up though........
When drivers get out of their semis in the cold parts of the country, they will be plugged in for days or even weeks.............Mine holds the coolant temp at 120 deg. when it is on. Takes some time to heat all that coolant and steel up if it is cold out.
