Here is my conversion from 4" to 5" Aero 5050XL
Here are the pics of the stock exhaust. My exhaust was 4" from turbo to muffler, then 5" out of muffler and then back to 4". I decided to make it 5" all the way out to the chrome tip. I had to buy a 4" to 4" elbow, 4" to 5" adapter to muffler. from muffler i continued 5" tubing to 5" elbow and the finally 5" chrome tip. I used seal clamps to connect all parts. Here is the website i got all my parts from

Had to dremil out the hole to fit the 5" chrome tip.... Hint use a shop vac while doing this to keep from being covered in fiberglass

I can hear the 5050 on mine all the time but the times it is loud is when going through a tunnel or close to a wall. It is good that the exhaust is at the rear of the coach.

Everyone in our motor home club knows when we arrive and depart because of the distinctive sound it makes. I would say not loud but distinctive. Had a buddy follow me down 101 to CA and when we would take off from a stop light He said that it sounded "awesome".

I love the sound of my 5050XL. Before the install the manifold pressure would hover around 20 - 25 at WOT. Now it pegs the gauge at WOT. It's gotta breath to run!

Mine starts out at 4" out of the tubo and then goes to the 5050 and then 5" all the way back. Quiet ? does setting off car alarms count as quiet ??

I'm curious how reducing backpressure can help hp and torque since backpressure is what spins the turbo and provides boost. Lowering pressure should reduce boost pressure too.

Back pressure wont let the turbo spool up as fast or to it's potential. The faster you can move the inlet air through the air filter to the turbo the turbo can compress more air and fuel into the cylinders. The larger exhaust let's this bigger volume of expanding gasses to flow more freely to its exit to repeating the cycle all over again. And my 5050XL will set alarms off when I've got my foot buried in it.
