Anyone get a Blackstone oil analysis?

Mine can back good except the silicon came back a bit high at ‘25’. They said “we suspect it is a harmless sealer or lube given that the wear is low”. And I did have a leaky oil pan gasket changed. If you’ve had an analysis done, what was your silicon number?

I change my engine oil every 5K to protect the HUEI pump. My silicon readings have been from 2 to 5 as tested by Blackstone Labs the last four tests. I am not sure what the units of measure are for silicon. My Cat engine has 78k miles. My MH is a 2004 Itasca Meridian. I hope this give you the info is what you are looking for.

Here's what I had.

I did change the oil (engine and transmission) afterwards regardless. i had just bought the coach and already had new oil and filters ready.

My analysis wasn't done by Blackstone, but my last Silicon measurement on my CAT C-12 was "2"

Yep, they said the same thing about my reading of 25 for the silicon but new gaskets were added during that sample. I’ll be sure to check for leaks in the intake but it will be interesting to see what the reading is in a year.

Silicon (sand) is not used in sealant (silicone). See post#8 from Test results Post! How old is your air filter?

From the link you sent....

It is unlikely that there will be a dust entry problem without an increase in wear rates. If normal wear patterns combine with high silicon readings, there are two main possibilities: (1) a silicone sealant, grease or additive is in use, and (2) accidental contamination of the sample.

This is what the lab said also.

The air filter was changed ~13k miles ago.
