Changing my oil filter ,3126 B, I noticed that the wastegate air supply hose was dangling, loose I thought. On a full examination, turns out the brass fitting on the turbo was snapped off. Threads in the aluminum housing ,barbed end in the hose, 90 degree elbow missing completely. I just got the unit in Nov.2010, and have put on 5000 + miles, there is no sign of any work being done in the area of the turbo. I removed the turbo to extract the broken brass from the housing and free up the waste gate. Found that the hose nipple on the waste gate servo, was bent up too, hose cut in 2 places. This may have been assembly line damage; no carbon in the waste gate passage ! 3 owners of the coach, multiple oil changes, valve adjustment and ECM updated and no one noticed . Does the ECM retain overboost faults ? If this has been a condition since new, should I be worried about head bolts, head gasket, or would the ECM de-rate fast enough to stop that kind of damage ? I had been wondering about a de-rate condition and thought it was fuel filters; now they are new, and I know the true cause of the problem.

You may want to post your question here: CATRVCLUB : CAT RV CLUB

Lots of knowledgeable people on this site. Brett Wolfe is a former CAT RV Club President and very helpful!

Good luck
