C-7 warning lights

05 Phaeton, 350hp Cat C-7. As we come into the New Orleans area yesterday on I-10 westbound (came from Gulf Shores AL) I notice the oil pressure gauge is rapidly jumping around, not holding steady at the 1/2 to 2/3 level as it typically does. As we hit the incline on the I-10 Lake Pontchatrain bridge, check engine light pops on, followed a moment later by engine protect & the resulting drop in power. As I clear the incline up, & head down, lights go out, but oil pressure remains inconsistent. Made it to RV Park, with oil pressure generally steady (per gauge) but jumping around a couple more times w/same dash lights appearing, then disappearing twice more.
Checked oil level, it’s good. Thought maybe low oil level on incline was causing oil pressure issues- not the case.
Headed to Freightliner Friday, where they have a Cat mechanic and are An RV shop.
Any thoughts suggestions on what issue might be? I’m no diesel mechanic, but would like some sense of how to interpret what diagnosis they give me?

To me, it sounds like the oil pressure sending unit has flaked out. Should be a simple fix.

By the way, oil pressure gauge and sending unit was an option.
The reason, is the ECU monitors pressure in the 1000 to 3000 psi range. This pressure is used to control the fuel pressure from the HEUI pump.
The ECU is more worried about oil level. If the oil gets to low, you will not be able to start the engine.
