Looking at a 2005 Revolution with a C-9 400hp, has a side radiator. How is this engine? Anything I should be aware of?

I have the same engine and it runs like a top. No problems whatsoever. Depending on the mileage of the engine check to see if they "ran the overhead". Involves adjusting the valves, the exhaust brake, and adjusting the fuel pump. Should be done after about 30,000 miles. In my case it saved me some crispy valves. I also had the software on the engine control module updated at the same time for minimal cost. The update addressed the problem of the battery on the board dying and then having to have everything totally reprogrammed (not cheap as I understand). Good luck!

I bought a 2005 C7 in '09 and did not have any maintenance records, so I started from scratch. I changed the oil & filter, fuel filters, trans oil & filters, rear end oil, lube chassis, ELC coolant, thermostats, air cleaner, generator oil, oil, fuel & air cleaner filters, gen. coolant. I also would recommend that you call CAT and give them your serial number of the engine to see IF the MH has been in for any maintenance. Like others have said, these motors will run along time providing proper maintenance is done.

Good luck!

x2 on what rver98 said. If you don't have service records git-r-all done. Yesterday I got all 6 engine software updates done on my 2005 C7. That was cool, the Cat tech showed me the read-out which detailed since new the total engine hours, idle hours, fuel used, etc., and he re-set the total mpg so I can have a record of my usage from now on. The cost for the software upgrades was $35 at the Cat service center in Windsor, CO.
