Unless you can locate a second temp sensor somewhere on your transmission the Scangauge has no information source. You have proven the sensor you have found goes to the gauge on the dash. If the ECM was to get transmission temperature information it would need another sensor sending information to the ECM that it could then send down the data buss. The sensor you found cannot do both.

If you wanted to be sure of what is on the data buss a authorised Cat shop can hook up their computer to the data buss and print out everything in the ECM. I had mine printed out and it was a amazing amount of information. About 10 printed pages.

Thanks Jim
As you may know, all authorized Cat shops are not created equal!
Where is the Cat shop you are comfortable dealing with?
The Cat dealer/shop in my hometown, (Fabco Cat), treats me like the proverbial "red headed stepchild".
What they do best is a tie between NOT doing the work I ask them to do and overcharging for the work they do do WITHOUT ASKING me if I want it done.
In my travels I will try to find another that is willing to accommodate this owner of an "old" Cat in a motor home.

I guess I am just lucky. I couldn't be happier with the work and overall experience I have had with NC Machinery shop in Mount Vernon,Wa.The staff is friendly and the tech (Eric Westlund) that has done the work I couldn't do myself is great. Their bills have been below estimate each time and the work done in less time than they figured. Eric is THE MAN!

I may have a small advantage as I worked as a heavy duty mechanic and crane operator for a crane rental company in Mount Vernon for 30+ years so
I understand what their business is like and they know me from my working days.
