Hey guys i'm getting ready to replace stock muffler with the aero muffler. My question is I have 4" exhaust coming from the turbo. I have a Cat 3126E 330HP and i notice alot of guys using the 5050xl, but these are usually on the C7 and up motors. Is it worth it for me to upgrade to the 5" or stay with the 4" 4040xl. I am also going to add the MP-8 chip, any comments would be appreciated. I know the faster i get the exhaust out the better, just not sure if the 5050 is overkill for my motor... thanks guys

On my c-7 the size is 4" out of the turbo then it bumps up to 5" down to the muffler so I just went with the 5050xl so it would match up.

mine is 4" to the muffler, 4" out to the exhaust tip, so i'm assuming the 4040xl is going to be fine

Mine is the same as Sandcar - 4" out of turbo expands to 5" at the muffler.

Pete,
Yes 5" from all the way back. It comes down from the turbo at 4" but into the muffler with a increase in size to 5".

Pete
If you have the time - I presume you are doing this yourself - I'd suggest you remove the old muffler, lay it out, then lay out the new muffler next to the old one and old tail pipe then you can measure out what exactly you need and order it online. That's what I did but did not need additional tail pipe but did need new univerasal holders for the muffler and a couple of new clamps. You could modify the existing holders but I was lazy.

yes i think that is my plan, i believe i know what i need. It is just going to cost me a little more for the 5" chrome tip :-0 I am getting ready to leave for the weekend to the mountains and cool off.... it's 114 degrees today and i'm sick of it already. It will give me a basis of how thgis baby runs before the mp-8 and exhaust install..

Come on up to the Pacific Northwest. I think we have been in the 70's for 5 days this year. Still getting in the high 30's and low 40's at night. The high for the week had been 59. So come on up and cool off.
