Where is it? I had the rear bed up and it wasn't on the top of the valve cover like my old 3126 and there is no metal tag on the side of the block unless I can't see it. Discovery on a Freightliner. Thanks

Did you look on the tag on the wall behind the drivers seat, thats where I got mine on my 05 Excursion.

Cat engine serial numbers should be on a sticker/plate on the panel behind the driver's seat. Plate should also give transmission and axle specs.
Although it doesn't give the serial number location, here's a Cat engine seminar:

Hope this helps.

The only tag I see is the one on the wall. Weight ratings tire sizes and pressure then at the bottom the VIN.

Should be a sticker on the oilpan on a C7.

I would also expect that there would be a Freightliner chassis sticker on the front of the 'firewall' inside the front hood. Mine lists all of the chassis, engine, and transmission numbers.

Call Freightliner with your VIN and they can tell you your engine number.

Your serial number is on the timing cover. Toward the back of the coach, passenger's side of the engine "facing" the back on a sticker affixed to the timing cover.

That's probably the easiest, least messy way to find out. You only need the last 6 numbers (or characters). Mine has a tag with the number on the radiator if you can't find the paper work.
