I have always used Lucas Oil Stabilizer in my F-53 chassis, cars and trucks. Has anyone used it in a diesel, i.e., Cat C-7 330hp.? It would supplant a gallon of the 15W-40 when mixed at the 20% dilution that Lucas advises.

Caterpillar does not recomend any oil additives. Just using the proper oil and grade will give you several hundred thousand miles.

I was using Lucas for years on my CAT motors. These engines like high oil pressure. I would get about 50 PSI for the first 2500 miles. There are many diffrent arguments for not using or using Lucas. The one that scared me the most was that it could create a sludge issue. Unless you are going to drop the oil pan there is no way to tell.

OK, thanx for the info, guys. I've decided to just use the proper oil/filter and change every 7500 mi. I do it myself, so it is not a large expense; our garbage co. will collect used oil at our curb on trash day. Heck of a deal!.

If you want added protection you could always use synthetic oil

For a low mileage C-7 I would do it, but on my high mileage rig I think it's to thin. I still do Lucas every other oil change.
