Recently purchased a used rv with a cat 12 engine, while checking the oil level found 2 different sets of oil level reference marks on either side of the dip stick. one set is about 1" higher than the other.
Any ideas?

I would replace the oil and calibrate the dip stick except the oil is new and its 36 quarts to replace!

It was probably re-calibrated once already. Verify which side is correct at your next oil change.
