The Caterpillar "Pocket Tec" came in two versions. One for the owner operator and one for the fleet technician. The software ran on the "Palm Pilot" and could read all the codes that the engine generated. It not only gave the codes being generated, but those stored in history, and a record of "events" that had occurred. The codes were numbered and it also gave the description of the code. IE code 102-7 Boost overpressure sensor not responding---
Sadly, the program was replaced with a much more detailed, expensive computer system now used in the cat shops.
I have had mine for some years now and originally just had the owner program but when cat discontinued their support, they freed up the fleet software at no charge. I now have that program as well. It allows me to clear codes, change some settings on the ecm such as latching or unlatching the cruise control for the engine brake etc.
It does not however provide a numerical listing of all codes ( at least as far as i know) so I am also looking for a complete list of all the codes.
So you have the palm program?

If I can find a palm, would you provide the program and the info to build the cable?

My neighbor has a Genisys system now - just have to get the round cable pin adaptor for it, then I should be able to scan the cat/allison.

Talking Cat 3126 fault codes

After scouring the internet for ages, I think I may have hit the jackpot

I've found a manual for a yard truck that has masses of Cat 3126 info, including the fault codes, diagrams and rebuild/tech stuff. You'l need to scroll down a long way to the CAT section, but I think it will be worth it.

See here:

Good luck

I have a scan gauge and can read any codes on that, what happens when you clear a code ? dose it just clear from the device ? I use WD-40 to lube my PAC break but will order some real PAC break lube

There is a selection to clear the codes - at least there is on my scangaugeD. Just my opinion but I don't think WD-40 will withstand the high temperatures on the exhaust brake.

Diagnostic Flash Codes For CAT C13 Engines

http://www.alliedsystems.com/pdf/Wag...80/80-1123.pdf

"With the ignition on, turn the cruise control off and hold the set switch in until the check engine light starts to flash. count the flashes. it will flash a two digit number. eg 5 flashes, a short pause and 5 more flashes would be code 55. it may flash several several codes.

If it flashed code 55 there is no faults
