Confused on HEUI pump style

Hello, I have a 2003 Newmar Dutchstar with a Caterpillar Engine.
The engine has an ID marker regarding the engine that says the Engine Model is a 3126. Serial# CKM59406.
I have always understood that my engine was a 3126E. After reading about the HEUI pump issues, I have been investigating which style pump that I have on this engine. Based on the CKM serial #, I thought I would have a square type style HEUI pump. But my pump appears to be the round top style. I am having trouble seeing the oil line from the pump to determine if it has the upgrade kit installed. But to add further confusion, I was surprised to see that it is a round type HEUI pump, not square. Were some 3126E engines equipped with the round style?

I'm not 100% sure of the timing of the production change over from the B series to the E and related changes to the HEUI pump it's self .
I have documents on the E series and will see what I can dig up because they are WAY to big to post here in the forums.

I believe the oil delivery line change up was from a high pressure hose to a rigid tube , that can only be seen looking down behind the pump from the top.

I'll see what I can dig up on the E series HEUI and re-post.

OK, I'm back and probably just as confused as you are.

It looks as if the first application of the rectangular head HEUI pump might be the C-7 .
The 3126E manual I have has only drawings depicting the round top .

This site lists the same pump ; 1998-2003 B & E series.

Hi there, we are in the middle of purchasing a 2001 3883 DS with a 330 cat in it and I'm trying to learn as much as I can about this thing. I was doing a search for the HEUI pump to see if the one I was buying was a round or square and if yours is an 03 and round mine will definitely be round. This is actually a good thing cause the driver is separate on the round and cheaper to repair.

Not to add further confusion but I have a 2003 Discovery with a CAT 3126E and it does have the square HEUI. I’ve owned it less than 2 years and didn’t get much of Service Records, but it’s not painted yellow like everything around it. Not sure if they can be modified from one style to the other.

My 2003 Dutch Star ser#CKM54291 has the flat top HEUI and I always thought mine is a 3126B. Mine had the flex line replaced with the hard tube due to a oil leak that turned out not to be from the flex line but from the air compressor. Based on our ser#'s yours is just a bit newer.

Yes , flat top or round; same difference ; I can't understand why the picture I pulled of the " Dave's Diesel " site shows the HEUI inverted from it's installed position .

Look at Skips pictures in this thread you will see the 2 types of HEUI pumps. Round or flat refers to the top of the pumps shape.
