Cost for New Turbo Replacement on 3126 Cat

I have a 1998 Beaver Contessa with a Cat 3126. Does anyone have an idea of the cost I can expect for a new turbo charger and labor hours I can expect for replacement?

Save labor costs by soaking all the bolts with Kroil or similar penetrating lube several times a day for several days before removal. Broken bolts can greatly increase labor costs.

Depending on access...4-5 hours should do it, more if hard to get at, less if you are lucky and have an honest shop.

You may want to check if a factory reman turbo is available to save some money.

It is amazing to see the difference in prices on turbos from different places.
I was driving my Bluebird school bus down a street one day and looked in the mirror and couldn't see anything but white smoke in my mirror. I mean nothing behind me but that big cloud. Pulled over, called it in and jumped out to check for fire and several people came running out also, but no fire and it quit smoking. They brought me another bus to finish my run and the mechanic jumped in my bus, started it up and drove it back to the shop albeit, rather slowly as it didn't have a lot of power.
They repaired it and got back to me and I took it on a field trip the first time out and couldn't believe how much more power it had. I guess it had been going bad slowly.

Cat reman turbo (complete) for my 300hp 3126b with engine SN prefix of 1wm was around 1400$ here in mn, if housing was good guts could be bought for 750$, i think they charge 150-175 per hour for labor, i would guess depending on access its a 3-4 hour job. But each model rv differs. I was able to find a brand new turbo for mine for 425 shipped (CAT) someone had it on the shelf and was just looking to sell. Got lucky. And i am in the process of rebuilding my whole engine so the labor is on me. Now i did find turbo replacements (off brand) on ebay for as low as like 350$, but i do not know anything about the quality of these.
