Engine Check Light came on

Ok was driving over the Sierras via Hwy 88 today and the engine check light came on and engine went in to derate mode. Pulled off the road and read the diagnostic code and got this: SPN 157FMI17 Base on my code listing it states:Engine Injector Metering Rail 1 Pressure : Low - Least Severe (1) and recommend Troubleshooting, "Fuel System Pressure - Test"
Question is there a pressure sensor that could be failing that's causing this? I ask this because after I read the code I turned the engine off and then restarted and everything ran fine and no engine check light. Drove about a 60 miles until we hit camp site for the nite.

Engine is a C9.

Thanks

Maybe as simply as changing your fuel filters

Good luck

It must be Hwy 88. I had the same thing happen pulling the hill from Jackson into Martel. The light went out and everything worked fine. I had the codes read and I had a bad boost sensor.

Just an update. We are sitting in Billings Mt. and still experiencing the engine ck light when I hit a steep grade. I changed the primary fuel filter in Butte and thought it was solved but pushing it hard up hill and light came on again. I've changed the secondary filter here in Billings and will see if that solves the issue, if not will be coming back to Billings after short trip into North Dakota to have it checked out.

Anyone have any experience, good or bad, with this CAT place in Billings:

Tractor Equipment Co.?

Should mention the CAT place cut the primary filter open and he said it was time to change but didn't think it was that bad. If not the filters I'm hoping it's the sensor. Only have 40,000 miles on coach so hope it's not the pump.

Update. Since changing the secondary fuel filter we have traveled 500 miles without any problems. So 2 micron filter was doing its job.

Well dreaded ck lite is back. Have chged filters twice and still tripping lite with same code. Near Great Falls Mt now. Will look to see if they have a place there to take a look at it. I'm starting to think it's the fuel pump. 🤑

Sounds like you may have gotten some bad fuel and may have clogged your filters again. Keep us posted.

Have you used any fuel additives? If you kill off a bunch of microorganisms at once, they will clog the fuel filter.

Well the dreaded engine check light is back, same code. We are home now so will take it to the Cat dealer right after the 4th. Drove over 1200 miles after supposed fix and occasionally would get a stutter like it was misfiring but no code, then when we hit the Sierras coming over Hwy 88 it threw the code when I had to put my foot in it to climb the grade. Talk about frustrating.
