Exhaust brake noise

Hello. I have a 2006 Itasca Horizon 40FD..I have recently noticed that when I release the gas pedal and the engine brake engages, I hear a high pitch noise..similar to an air leak. Then once I press on the gas pedal again, it seems to go away.

Does anyone have advice on where I should start looking for the problem?

Depending on the mileage it sounds like the converter. If there is a lot on sit time the condensation sets up inside and gives off different sounds. May not be but mine had to be replaced at 35000

I think you may have posted in the wrong forum. I Googled the coach model you stated and the Itasca brocure shows an Evolution chassis with a 350HP Caterpillar C7. Nothing Workhorse related there.

To answer your question, it sounds to me like you're hearing the waste gate on the turbo charger bleed off pressure. This sound is often heard on race cars with large turbos, when the driver lifts off of the pedal there's a squeal that immediately goes away once the accelerator pedal is pressed.
