We have a '99 dutch star on a Frieghtliner chassis and 300HP caterpillar.
The hydralic pump is driven off the air compressor pump thru a cast
coupling which comes from caterpillar, according to a cat rep. this coupling developed a crack laterally accross the top causing an engine
oil leak that was a bear to locate, but finally was found by super cleaning,
then patiently running the engine for about 30 minutes.
My problem is that caterpillar refuses to sell this part individually, it only comes on the air compressor for about $1500 .
This casting is approximately 2 inches thick, 4 inches in diameter, with a 2inch hole in the center and flanged with 4 holes at one end and 2 holes
on the oppisite side.
Do any of you know of this problem in the past, and if so, what remedy
there might be.

Discovered a crack in the adapter flange between the air compressor and the hydralic pump on my 1999 Newmar with a 3126 cat engine in frieghtliner chassis.
Caterpillar tells me the part is not available thru their parts system.
Does anyone have a suggestion on a source for this part.
Caterpillar says it is only available with an air compressor, rebuilt about
$1500.

Hello, sounds like we have identical MH's, and I keep an eye out for potential issues, such as this one. Having a part made may not be an option as there may be internal bearing support issues, that would require line-boaring of the part. $$$$As the leak took so long to locate I doubt that is a pressure area. My MH is in storage so I can't look at the part. Maybe a good cleaning of the area and a two part epoxy would do the trick. Taking in mind that vibrations in the area could finish the part off over time.

Why don't try some truck salvage yards for a used part
