Improved MPG with an MP-8 ?
Has anyone seen their MPG's improve with the addition of an MP-8? I have been searching the threads here but have not found one person that says it improved their mileage...

To get accurate mileage figures you have to check over long terms. Cummins says 140,000 miles. I don't think anyone has run their rig with a chip long enough to get figures!

I'm not trying to get "super-accurate" mileage figures...I would just like to know if someone has installed the MP-8 and checked their mileage for 2-3 thousand miles. Has it improved...?

I've driven mine with the MP-8 more than 2 or 3000 miles and I don't see a noticible increase in mpg but I do see me going up a grade a bit faster. I'm not racing but going up a long grade at 40 or 45 mph seems better than doing that same grade at a slower speed. I've had power chips in three different diesel engines and they all increase power and claim to increase mpg. Just my opinion but I'd suspect if you actually drove at the same speeds as before installing an MP-8 it would improve mpg but not if you use the extra horsepower as most of do or will do.

There ya go, if you got the power use it. I found a moderate increase in MPG up to 1.5 over the same ground and fueling stations. But going up hill I am up one gear and a lot of no down shifting on moderate hills, which means I am most likely in those time using the same fuel as before the MP8 . The biggest problem is accounting for gen time, know the time but what is the fuel flow, gen uses between .5 and about .9 per hour. But when you use 20-40 hours even over several thousand miles ???????????. I think if a person could control their right foot one would see everall a 1.5 increase in MPH but that is pure(maybe slightly educated) experience.

Just a word of caution. If you're covered by a warranty, factory or extended, check it carefully. My extended warranty if void if I add a chip.

Rgarding warranties... There are "Chips" and there are "Chips".
Some companies, Like Ultra Power and Banks, stand behind their upgrades, and they have done their research and the chip/upgrade should "Do no harm" as they say.
Others, .. Well others are not so good.
The warranty act says basically this: IF your modifications caused the damage then, Tough luck sucker. But if the problem was NOT caused by your "Upgrade" warranty applies.
Alas, the problem is the company has the high powered lawyers.

I don't think it's going to help me then
According to the attached picture if my mileage doubled I'd have to drain fuel out of the tank!
But seriously folks, Absolute power corrupts absolutely. If the power's there you're going to use it. All chips work the same way - more fuel when you 'get into it'. Can you resist 'getting into it'?
The other thing that chips do is to totally mess up the real time and agerage mileage calculations, like the one in the picture.
I put a chip in my F250 and it consistantly reads 5 or more MPG higher than actual. If you didn't calculate it by hand you'd never know. But it sure is fun to blow some black smoke into a tailgaiters window!

On this particular cummins engine ISB340 6.7L the MP-8 with fuel pressure kit does in fact double the MPG driving in 6th gear overdrive in ECON mode with cruise control on at 55 mph rpm @ 1350. Verified with Linear Logic Scan Gauge "D". deSanford

Verified?
Your ECM and ScanTool both do calculations based upon what's in the computer, i.e. the manufacturers stock fueling map. But the fueling map you're actually running is contained only in the chip. If you're verifying your numbers any way other than with hand calculations you are being misled. Even the 'mileage guesser' in an unmodified vehicle is usually off. Sometimes way off.

Sanford,
You better get your pencil fuel mileage calculator busy. The fuel mileage average displayed on your Scangauge is totally bogus if your MP-8 is turned up. Mine is reading approximately double the actual mileage.
