Scott,
I know you were just using a fig off the top of your head. I was just putting some
humor into asking where you got such good deals.

Wb7,
Roger that Sir, I wonder what a C-7, around a 330 or 350 (same engine) could cost new and even a good used one out of a later model crashed M/H??

When I asked around I was told 25 to 35 thousand installed for new.(factory rebuild)
As for used: I have no idea but my thinking is someone's used is like trying to walk
a mine field blind folded.

Sammie,
Well, now that sure looks "purdy". I wish mine looked like that one. Mine's got rust etc. all over it. That's the first C-7 I've ever seen for sale. There's got to be some serious shipping costs assosiated with that big boy. Incedentally, Sophie says hi.(bark)

Funny you guys are talking about engines. I just finished an engine replacement in mine. 2005 chassis with 28k miles, suffered a cracked block. I did a full tear down and assessment. When I added up parts cost, it just made more sense to find a replacement engine. I was lucky and found a new, zero mile unit like this.
Caterpillar C7 New Complete Cat Engine

I bought one of these, they are new military surplus. Just needed to change a few, well a lot of things over from the old motor.

I will start a thread soon with disassembly and replacement pictures, I think you all will get a kick out of it.

Family Time: I admire your gumption! That is quite a job to do in your backyard! To the poster who linked that Ebay engine. It has just been spray painted. Probablky dirty and rusty underneath the paint. Looks like a rebuild in a spray can!

FIREUP, Scott,
Sophie says hi back from her throne on the couch. One eye is always open just in case there is something going on.
