Comanche, you do not have the C7 with the HEUI pump, you have the good one, lucky for you. The C7 is basically the 3126 but with the change in the fuel delivery system to the HEUI pump. You really don't have any worries, but I am a fanatic at having clean oil. We put 10K+ per year on our rv, so I change mine every 5k or sometimes just when my gut tells me it needs changing which could be less than 5K. The trick for me is, I do it myself for about $80 for oil and filter. I take the used oil to O'Reillys for recycle for free. The process is so much easier than on our Toyota Avalon, Honda CRV or Dodge Dakota, because there is soooo much room under there.

If I were you, I would change it after a year, even tho you have so few miles, as said before, when it sits, it collects moisture, etc. Hope that helps with your decision, sir.

How many use full synthetic oil and would you do so with a 9yr old coach with 35K miles on it, if you didn't know it's history?
I expect to find out more later and when picking it up, but thought I'd ask for some opinions here, as well. It's a CAT 9.

It will be a added expense if your going to change yearly anyway by the book. I've only used rotella 15/40 34 quarts .

I have a 15 year old and I used Full Synthetic in the oil change i did myself. I did a little reading as you will find different opinions, but the bottom line IMO is that the newer synthetic oil providers a better additive package and protection. Other than the additional cost i see no down side.

Big Oil says shelf life of motor oil is at least 5 years

Big Oil says motor oil shelf life is 5 years--google shelf life for motor oil and you'll find that Big Oil says that motor oil shelf life is at least 5 years. Given that Big Oil is saying this you know its probably much longer than that given their lack of credibility to begin with. So, I think its safe to say that you could go significantly longer than one year on low mileage oil changes. Caterpillar says 15,000 miles is the factory recommended distance between oil changes on my C-10. Thus I change its oil every two years or 10,000 miles which ever comes first. To change 34 quarts of oil annually just because 12 months have gone by, irrespecutful of miles accumulated, is wasteful and frankly, irresponsible.

As in your other thread, shelf life of a sealed container is way different than operating life in an engine.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Use it. Get an oil analysis.
