Oil Pressure readings...: What are you guys getting?

on a warm diesel engine cruising at speed on HGWY

my manual says 55 lbs is normal but my VDO gauge shows 45 at start up.... like 20 at idle and 40 warm at speed on HGWY

Just curious

Mine is a 330 cat and although the guage on my dash does have exact numrical readings like yours seems to have, the up and downs in preasure are the same. High at high RPM very low at idle. I think this is as it should be. Hope so cause that's how it is.
Keep doing enough things right and it will catch up with you.

I would love to know what my gauges actually say in pounds. Low, Normal, and High really does not tell me a lot.

44-47 seems to be about normal at driving speeds after warm up.

I don't know what engine you have, but the manual for my C7 350 CAT says typical oil pressure is 35 to 70 psi and the diagnostic lamp will come on if the pressure drops below 5 psi at low idle.
You don't have to worry about oil pressure if you have HUEI Fuel Injection as the engine will shut down if oil pressure is too low.

I have installed digital gauges. My oil pressure match yours. I have seen 18 psi at idle when the engine is over 205 degrees.

I get different readings from the VDO gauge and the computer. I suppose they are different sending points. But in general 20 idle and 40 on the road after warm up. I have 91,000 miles on C12.
