Overhead

Got the overhead otherwise known as the Valve adjustment done over the weekend on my truck. It needed it bad, it was running very rough when cold & wouldn't warm up the right way & the fuel mileage was off. I wasn't blowing smoke.

I was way over do on my overhead. It's supposed to be done every 100,000 miles I was at exactly 148,000.

Anyway $335 bucks later for the adjustment which inculded a new valve cover gasket the truck started right up when cold, no drag on the motor & is nice & smooth (for that truck anyway). I had a new muffler put on to I was planning on instaling myself over the christmas break, but I figured since it was going in for one thing may as well do another.

It's so nice to have a smooth running quite truck again.

My mechanic told me to start doing just ol & filter changes at 5000 miles. I was doing 10,000 than 7,500 but with the miles on that motor (534,000) he wants to see them done at 5000. So I will comply.

I'd do an oil analysis and see what it tells you before going to the shorter change intervals. I did that with our ISC and found I could go longer than specified.

I'll have one done regardless. I think at this point it's an age plus mileage issue.

the truck is a 2000 & the miles are high.

When the truck was new I used to go 15,000 miles inbetween PM's. I noticed a a couple of hundred thousand miles ago that the truck did not like lengthly oil changes intervals. It would run diffrently, rough, loud, etc,

the 3126 thrives on clean oil.

3126 and C7's can develop fuel injection problems if the engine oil is not kept clean. Not sure the engine really cares so much as the injector system. If I was going to error it would be to change it a little to often.
