I have read that the external linkages on the pac brake needs to be lubricated. Can anybody tell me what to use? Obviously what ever lube is used will need to deal with a little heat.

I bought my lube at a Pac Brake display at an RV Rally in Redmond, OR. I don't remember the price but $8.00 mentioned above seems about right. If memory serves me correctly Pac Brake does not need to be lubricated if you are using it all the time but if you take a few months without traveling and using it then it needs the lubrication. That said I use my motorhome a lot but still lub the Pac brake if I'm doing something "under the bed" and have access to that area. It only takes a couple of drops of the lub.

You should lube the Pac Brake every 6 months according to maintenance recommendations. Remember IF it is not lubed it may stay halfway shut causing your engine to lose power. Just another thing to worry about.

Good luck

You are absolutely correct. Frequent use is the best medicine. If you use it regularly, the only maintenance is lube a couple times a year.

If you let it sit, you can almost be guaranteed that it will stick at some point. You can't exercise it standing still in most applications, so highway driving is a must. The second best is to gain access to it and move it through its cycle. On mine, I have an electric solenoid about halfway under the chassis. A small 12 volt source applied here will move the plunger in and out as long as you wish. Just be sure to have the air pumped up or nothing will happen.
