Rotella T4, T5 or T6?
Which one would you use in a 2004 525hp C-13 with 55k miles in a 56k lb Class A? I'm a fair weather full timer, so not too hot or cold.

I like a Syn oil so I would go with Rotella T6 5w40.
I run Amsoil 5w40 in my 06 Ford PSD with a HEUI system same as my C9 (oil fired Injectors) so I'm thinking of using Mobil 1 5w40, Amsoil 5w40 or Rotella T6 5w40. Syn oil can handle the heat and will not coke turbo bearings if you turn it off to soon.

I run the Rotella T6 in my CAT C13 too.
It's not cheap when you need 40 quarts of it. The best price I found was getting it from Walmart on-line. Today it's selling for $65 for 3 gallons ($5.45/qt).

I feel like it is more important to change the oil frequently and not about the "value" of synthetic oil. I go with the T4 since it does meet the requirements for a Cat engine.

Full Synthetic is far superior to conventional oil when it comes to all the attributes that matter. I would use full synthetic for a longer change interval and change it when an oil analysis indicates it is necessary. After you do this a few times you can get a feel for how often changes are needed in the future.

I agree with the first sentence. It's convenient for me to change my own oil (T4) each summer where I stay. It was about 6000 miles since last summer. If an oil analysis says my oil was spent, I'll switch to syn oil next time

Ok... is it T6 15/40 or 5/40. I though all DP motor oil was supposed to be 15/40 weight.

It depends on the climate. CAT even recommends 0W-40 (or 5W-40 Syn) in cold weather.

My oil is being changed late today and I live in southern Missouri where it usually gets down between zero and the 2o's during the Winter. Which T6 oil weight would you recommend for my coach?

I would go with the T6 5w40. When it is cold out the oil will get to the bearings quicker 5w and as it warms up the oil will move up to a 40w. If you live in Arizona 15w40 would be just right.

I pull oil samples on every oil change and send it in the Peterson Cat, cost $13.50

I am on my 2nd change with t6 and for the extra cost I think it is worth it
124k (miles ) on the cat and love the power
