Sorry not any help, the scangauge must a slightly different system or identifier. Cat uses Fmi =Failure mode Identifier CID =component identifier FMI= failure mode identifier. So I'm not sure I can break the codes down accurately. Safe Travels

ScanGuage does not do a good job with the code displays. I suppose the program is too generic (designed to work on all engine brands).

My ScanGauge manual explains a little about the way the codes are displayed. Your code "0639" does not appear in the CAT manual I have.

Googling it comes up empty too - except this (PDF linked to below) showing the code related to the CAN Bus. if that is correct then possibly water got into the electrical connector and cause this error. Maybe it will dry out on its own.
Good luck

Hello all, I got a Private message from a member that had same code come in one time same max count (127) and never had that code come in again with no ill affects so.... I will trust my scangauge for a gauge but as far as a scan tool I will trust my CAT reports more. Thanks, Joe

Can you use the "built-in" (non-scan tool) code retrieval method to see what (if any) code is present? If you can get a CAT code number it may be of use to others and yourself.

This is the instructions for my coach (I think yours would be the same).

I just don't understand, Call or Email Scan Gauge for the answer.
Now you all you want to understand code. SAE has a document listing all the standard codes. This you can use a search engine and download from the web.

And yes I have one

Hello all, OK let me put it this way. When I get my CAT Product Status Report ran at my CAT dealer all alarms and codes past and present coincided with a real life event that I witnessed or what has been know as a nuisance alarm that has been verified by other CAT C7 owners.

Now that I have a Scangauge I can monitor boost, air inlet temp, Trans temp and a lot more and very happy about that but as far as a scan tool I will stick to the cat report. The scan codes from the Scangauge make very little sense to me and never coincide with what is found on the Cat report.

Alot of times I read here about someone with engine issues asking for advise and if a Cat report was ran it would most likely point them in the right direction.
Thanks, Joe
