What is and how do you obtain "Soft Cruise" This is referred to in several manuals and articles, but no mention of how to obtain it.

05 Itasca, C7 Cat, Freightliner chassis

The CAT ECM can be configured for either 'hard' or 'soft' cruise. In hard cruise it tries to maintain the set speed precisely. In soft cruise it allows the speed to vary a bit above and below the set speed for better fuel economy.

You're probably configured for soft cruise by default, but to read it or change it you'll need to stop by a CAT dealer who can hook up their computer to the coach and read/set the ECM values. I got a printout of my ECM settings from my local Freightliner/CAT dealer.
