Some metal dust on oil drain plug

Hi folks,

Did my annual oil change today, 3126b. I looked really close on the drain plug and noticed some metal dust on the edges. It's a miniscule amount I had to look very close arohnd the magnert to see it and pics did not turn out. I have yet to cut open the oil filter. Sending in a sample to sos as always, last change did not indicate abnormal wear. Anyone else encounter this? Something to worry about or is it likely nothing?

Well, your SOAP sample will tell the tale but I've changed the oil in many a diesel boat and truck and a bit of fuzz is usually normal. Cutting open the filter may show more but I wouldn't imagine you'll find more. Chips and "chunks" though are a different matter.

Good luck!!!
